New tool available to treat an overdose

The North Island Medical Health Officer wants family, friends, and care providers of drug users to be aware of some new tools to help with overdoses.

The provincial medical health officer has declared a public health emergency because of a spike in overdose deaths in BC.

Doctor Charmaine Enns says there is a treatment available for someone having an opioid overdose.

Enns notes that pharmacists and first responders are in the process of being trained in using Naloxone.
