People doing backyard burning are being reminded to not leave their fires unattended.

A fire in Oyster River got out of control yesterday, and burned about an acre of land as well as a shed.

Oyster River Fire Chief Bruce Green says one of the rules on the permit is to not leave fires unattended.

Green says we’re entering the time of year where forest fuels will dry out quickly, even after we get a good rainfall, so it’s important to be extra vigilant when burning.
