VIU receives funding for trades programs

Advanced Education Minister Andrew Wilkinson was on hand at Vancouver Island University for a funding announcement.

VIU will be receiving $262, 000 to have more seats available in a variety of their trades programs.

Elaine Zaplotinsky is currently in the power engineering program and she says this announcement will go long way and gives more people the opportunity to learn about the trades.

Level 4 Power engineering will have 16 more seats available. Level 3 Heavy Duty Equipment Technician will have an additional 16 seats as well.

Electrical levels 2 and 3 will both have an additional 16 seats each and level 4 will add 32 seats to their program.
