19 Wing, civilian help overturned canoeist

A civilian float plane, along with 19 Wing Comox and an RCMP helicopter helped out an overturned canoeist in Pye Lake, roughly 50 km north of Campbell River.

2Lt. Jennifer Halliwell says the float plane was first on scene, and pulled the canoeist from the water.

She says once on shore, the canoeist was put into a BC ambulance in stable condition, although there’s no word on how he’s doing now.

Halliwell says there was great coordination between everybody involved in the rescue.
