Courtenay Fire crews were kept busy but were quickly able to put out a fire last night. Chief Don Bardonnex says that the fire started along the power lines off of the Comox Logging Road.

He notes that the fire was about 30 metres by 50 metres, and extended vertically at about 15 metres into the trees.

Bardonnex adds that the Cumberland fire department came in to assist. He says the fire was caused by a branch that flew off a tree and made contact with the power lines.

Bardonnex says no injuries resulted from the fire.
