Mike Bridges wins 2016 Country Roads Marathon

Athletes hustled their hearts out during this morning’s Country Roads Marathon in Courtenay.

This year’s edition was a half-marathon, due to limited entries, but with clear skies the event went on, with athletes coming from areas like Campbell River to participate.

Organizer Steven Royer says the event helped out a great cause.

Mike Bridges was the winner of the event, with a finishing time of 1:24:26. Bridges says the volunteers play a huge part in shaping the event.

Funds raised from the event go towards the Vancouver Island Crisis Society.
