Coastal Fire Centre crews are reminding residents to be careful when getting rid of briquettes.
Fire Information Officer Marg Drysdale says they’ve had a number of reports of people dumping briquettes in the woods. Drysdale says they’ve responded to multiple reports of fires smoldering and people having to put them out.
Drysdale says if you need to dispose of briquettes, make sure you put them in a bucket of water and make sure that they are thoroughly cold before leaving your site.
