New Comox Valley dinosaur stamp issued by Canada Post

A Comox Valley dinosaur has been chosen for a new run of stamps.

The Elasmosaur has been included on Canada Post’s new run of Dinos of Canada stamps.

Canada Post spokesperson Jim Phillips says they were looking for unique examples of prehistoric creatures from across the country – specifically from places not known as major fossil areas.

He says part of Canada Post’s mandate is to educate people on the history of Canada.

The marine reptile lived 83-million years ago.

It was discovered by a father-daughter fossil hunting team in 1988.
