Group looking to create third crossing between Island and mainland

The Third Crossing Society in Powell River is seeking support from Vancouver Island communities for a third crossing to the island from the mainland.

The proposed route would join several sections of road to create a direct link from Powell River to the Interior, and link to the island through the Comox-Powell River Ferry.

Spokesperson Gary Fribance says they’ve already received a dozen letters of support from the south island and the interior.

Fribance says there is currently a study being done on road access into Powell River, and the society would like the Province to widen the scope of that study to include its proposed route.
