Courtenay Firefighters excel at Firefit Competition

Firefighters from the Courtenay Fire Department put on a strong showing at the Firefit Combat Challenge in Vernon, BC over the weekend.

7 firefighters competed and earned silver and bronze medals.

Department Chief Don Bardonnex says the competition included different skills firefighters use on a regular basis.

Bardonnex says his crew members put in a lot of hard work for the challenge.

16 teams participated in the Firefit Combat Challenge, plus individual competitors.

The Courtenay team included firefighters Lynn Little, Andy Quinn, Ken Hryko, Matt Rexin, Ian Robertson, Lieutenant Derek Henderson, and Captain Jonathan Welsh.
