The Regional District has updated its water restriction bylaw to increase conservation during water restrictions.

The changes mostly apply to stage 2, and decreases the number of hours during which you can water your lawn.

Spokesperson Koreen Gurak says they decided to make the change after watching water use during the restrictions last year. She says that last year, the area was moved into stage 2 fairly early in May.

She notes that even in stage 2, the water consumption was still high.

Gurak says it’s important that people are familiar with the changes for when we move into stage 2 restrictions.
