Earthquake simulator reminds residents of the importance of emergency prep

Residents had the chance to see what it’s like to experience an earthquake in the Comox Valley.

The Shake Zone earthquake simulator was in Courtenay at Simms Park yesterday. The event was put on by the Comox Valley Emergency Program.

Coordinator Howie Siemens says it was a good event for the community. He says that one of the largest hazards on Vancouver Island is an earthquake.

He notes that there was a strong turnout, and says it was a very educational day.

Siemens says the event put a focus on the importance of being prepared for an emergency like an earthquake.
