Comox Valley Ground Search and Rescue is getting $87,000 from the province.

Comox Valley MLA Don McRae says it’s important to support the volunteer group and provide funding so they can get the training and equipment they need.

McRae says it’s important to let crews train and be better prepared for their job, rather than spending time fundraising.

McRae says it’s important the government support these volunteer groups to ensure they have the skills and technology they need to help those who find themselves in trouble.

McRae adds that Ground Search and Rescue plays an integral part in ensuring both residents and visitors to the Comox Valley are able to get help if they get into trouble in the outdoors.
