Rescue crews searching for missing teen near Powell River

Search crews were back out this morning, looking for a 19-year-old who went missing north of Powell River. The South Korean teen was attending a camp near Malibu Rapids, and entered the water yesterday. The teenager was swept away in the fast moving waters.

Search crews, including Coast Guard, private boats, and crews from 19 Wing Comox were combing the area yesterday until dark and resumed the search this morning.

The teen’s family is on their way to BC. RCMP say the area is challenging to search because it is so remote and because of the strong tidal flows.
