Voters Say No to South Sewer Project

The unofficial results are in and the south sewer project has been turned down by voters.

A referendum was held last night for the proposed wastewater treatment plant in the Royston and Union Bay area.

71% of voters said no the the project, and 75% also voted against a public-private partnership agreement on the project.

However, Regional District spokesperson Marc Rutten says they will now take a step back and evaluate other options.
