Catalyst Paper has developed a plan for an artificial reef off Powell River. The company is hoping to sink up to 4 ships to create the diving attraction.
Powell River city councilor Russell Brewer says councilors were impressed with the proposal. He says they’re at early stages and more legwork is needed, but plans are looking good for the artificial reef.
The company will still need to go through the regulatory approval process before moving forward, but it is hoping to be able to sink the first of the vessels this fall.
