ICBC teams up with RCMP for safe boating campaign

ICBC has joined up with the Comox Valley RCMP today for a safe boating and driving enforcement campaign.

Crews set up at the Comox Lake boat launch in Cumberland and at the Comox Marina. ICBC spokesperson Caroline Robinson says it’s important to be safe both on the water and on the roads.

Robinson says Citizens on Patrol members are assisting with the enforcement campaign.

Robinson notes that 46% of impaired driving related deaths occur between the summer months of June and September. She reminds boaters and drivers to plan for a safe way home and to take caution when out on the water. Robinson suggests you arrange for a designated driver, call a taxi or stay overnight at a hotel if you plan on consuming alcohol.
