RCMP looking for witnesses to Courtenay assault

Mounties are looking for witnesses to an assault in Courtenay.

Constable Rob Gardner says it happened in the early morning hours on Sunday, in the 200 block of 8th street. The investigation revealed that the incident stemmed from an argument over a taxi.

Gardner says one individual was punched in the face and sustained a broken jaw, several stitches and a concussion.

Gardner says police are looking for anyone who may have been in the area at the time, who may have seen what happened. If you have any information, you’re asked to contact RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
