Rescue near Kyuquot Channel

Rescue crews were called out to save a man who had gone overboard from a fishing charter off the northwest coast of Vancouver Island. The man had fallen overboard from a small fishing vessel, about 13 nautical miles west of Kyuquot Channel.

Corporal Aubrey Hatcher with the Joint Rescue Cooridination Centre says multiple agencies responded to the call. He says the man was located with severe hypothermia and varying levels of consciousness.

The man was transported to hospital in Comox for treatment.
