Shoreline repairs planned for Courtenay

Shoreline protection work will be getting underway on the south end of Courtenay.

Director of Public Works Services, Trevor Kushner, says they’ll be pinning driftwood logs in the area to create protection for the shoreline.

The work will be done along the Riverway Walkway near 29th and at Sandpiper Drive. He says the soft-shore technique allows other logs and debris to be built up along the shoreline.

Kushner says it limits erosion and it creates natural vegetation to grow along the shoreline.

The work is expected to get underway in early August and will take two to three weeks.
