RCMP nab armed robbery suspect

Comox Valley RCMP has nabbed a suspect in an armed robbery.

Last Wednesday, a man with a knife entered a store in the 400 block of Puntledge Road and demanded cash. Constable Rob Gardner says the suspect was identified and picked up on the weekend.

Gardner says the 36-year old Courtenay resident is charged with robbery and disguise with intent. Gardner notes that this case is a good example of the RCMP using “old-fashioned” police work, putting in long hours and talking to witnesses to catch the suspect.

The suspect is being held in custody and will appear in court later this week.
