Thrifty Foods moving to former Safeway site

The Thrifty Foods on England Avenue in Courtenay is moving to a new location.

The store is set to take over the old Safeway building on Cliffe Avenue.

Sobeys West spokesperson Keri Scobie says the company is excited for the bigger space the new location will offer.

Scobie notes that the larger store could also lead to more employment opportunities.

Scobie says they’re hoping to move into the building by the end of the year. The current store on England Avenue will continue to operate.
