The historical significance of Chinese Canadians is being celebrated in Cumberland.

Mayor Leslie Baird says the Cumberland Chinese Cemetery is one of 21 sites the province has chosen as having historical significance under the Chinese Legacy BC program.

Baird says a plaque will be placed in the Village acknowledging the wrong-doings done to the Chinese in the past.

Baird says the project has been in the works for the past 2 years. The Coal Creek Historic Park was also chosen out of 77 nominated places across BC.
