Gravel work at Elk Falls

It will now be a little easier for the BC Conservation Foundation to move gravel down the Elk Falls Canyon this year.

BCCF Project Lead Jeramy Damborg says a new skyline was put in this spring to help provide spawning gravel to the salmon and trout that inhabit the upper river.

Damborg says with the dam in place, there’s no way for gravel to migrate down the river naturally, so it’s a must to help salmon inhabit the area.

The work will go from August 8th to the 12th with bobcats running along the Millennium Trail. The public should expect some delays and noise in the area.
