RCMP reminding boaters of water safety

The RCMP is reminding boaters that it is illegal to operate a boat while impaired by alcohol.

A boat operator is facing charges after a boat ran up on a log boom recently near Powell River. The Coast Guard had to be called in to remove the boat from the boom and escorted them back to the dock.

RCMP Sergeant Kevin Day says the same rules apply on the water as with a motor vehicle.

The boater facing charges will appear in court in October.
