Fire crews are working on putting out a wildfire on West Redonda Island, northeast of Campbell River, and close to Teakerne Arm Provincial Park.
Fire Information Officer Marg Drysdale of the Coastal Fire Centre says no homes are affected as the fire is in a fairly remote location. She says the fire is surrounded by water on 3 sides.
She adds that an air tanker was deployed to assist crews.
Drysdale says they’re also going to keep an eye on the weather and see if the rain helps put out the blaze.
