BC Ferries is reminding people to be prepared for heavier traffic this weekend.
Spokesperson Deborah Marshall says the travel patterns on the Labour Day weekend tend to be different than other long weekends in the summer.
Marshall says the majority of the traffic comes over from Vancouver to the mid-Island, but there will also be people heading the other way to enjoy the long weekend festivities on the mainland.
Marshall notes that there tends to be increased traffic both to and from the Island as university students head back to school.
