Number of students increases across province

Almost 529,000 students will be heading back to school across the province on Tuesday.

BC’s Minister of Education, Mike Bernier says that represents an increase of 3,000 student throughout British Columbia.

Bernier says one of the things they’re excited about is students being fully funded throughout the entire school year. He notes more teachers and support staff are being hired.

Bernier says one of the priorities this year is a consultation with parents to see how they would prefer to be kept informed of their kids’ progress. That consultation will be launched this fall.
