Coastal Fire Centre battles North Island blaze

After letting it burn itself out for a while, crews went on the attack north of Gold River over the weekend battling the Twaddle Lake fire.

Donna McPherson with the Coastal Fire Centre explains.

McPherson says the Twaddle Lake Fire has been held at about 65 hectares, adding cooler wet weather will help put a damper on the blaze.

McPherson says the Coastal Fire Centre is welcoming that wet forecast, as the fire danger rating continues to drop in the region. Smoke from the blaze continues to be blown throughout the region.
