Pumpkin Smash events taking place this weekend

Halloween has come and gone, so it’s now time to safely dispose of your pumpkins.

The Compost Education Centre has the perfect solution to get rid of your Jack-O-Lanterns.

Spokesperson Elaine Jansen says they will be holding their 10th annual pumpkin smash at Strathcona Gardens this Saturday and Sunday.

She says you can bring your pumpkins and smash them on the pavement – making it the one place where you can do that and not get in trouble.

Jansen says any of the pumpkins that are not carved and can still be used for cooking will be donated to the food bank.
