With the massive amounts of rain hitting the region, Cumberland’s Fire Chief is urging people to be careful on the highway. Mike Williamson says the Inland Island Highway is always dangerous when we get a big dumping of rain.
He notes you should give yourself extra time getting to your destination and avoid speeding on the slippery roads.
He says drivers also need to remember to drive defensively and watch out for other road users.
Williamson notes that the updated forecast is calling for up to 100 millimetres of rain.
