Arrest made in fatal hit and run

An arrest has been made in a fatal hit and run that took the life of an 18-year-old man in Merville.

RCMP Constable Rob Gardner says the incident happened at around 5:30 AM on Tuesday just north of the Merville store.

Gardner says Highway 19A was closed for almost 10 hours for an investigation. Gardner notes a ferry user reported seeing the suspect vehicle.

He says a 29-year-old driver was stopped and arrested for criminal negligence causing death and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

Gardner asks anyone with further information to contact the RCMP or Crime-Stoppers.
