Local FAC Chair pleased to see UBCM turning up heat on BC Government

The Ferry Advisory Committee Chair for Denman-Hornby Island, and co-chair of the entire coastal Ferry Advisory Committee, says he’s thrilled delegates at the UBCM convention are united in pressing the BC Government to restore both fares, and service levels to 2013 levels.

Tony Law says it’s a key piece of ammunition, to put some pressure on the BC Liberals.

Law says the province found the money to fund the BC Teachers deal, and now the time has come to pay up and support BC Ferries…

Armed with an extensive study showing BC coastal communities are taking a big fiscal hit from high ferry fares and service cuts, UBCM delegates are pressing the BC Government to take action.

With the BC Liberals ignoring the last several UBCM motions on ferries in recent years, Law says we’ve got to have hope the government will ultimately live up to their responsibility with BC Ferries.

No commitment yet from the BC Liberals on the call from UBCM delegates to restore service levels, and ferry fares to 2013 levels.
