Great Bear Rainforest recognized by Royal Family

The Great Bear Rainforest legacy is being honoured today by the Royal Family.

The legacy was officially recognized as part of The Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy Initiative ceremony at Buckingham Palace Tuesday.

The Initiative raises awareness of work being done in commonwealth countries to conserve forests for future generations.

Great Bear negotiator Dallas Smith says the legacy is an example of how it is possible to bring together different groups in peaceful negotiations.

Smith says he hopes the work done on the Great Bear Rainforest can serve as an example both within Canada and internationally.
