North Island College is receiving funding for adult-literacy programs on the North Island.
Comox Valley MLA Don McRae says the college is receiving $213,000 in one-time funding for targeted programming to help adults with reading, writing and math skills.
He notes the subject of adult literacy is something that isn’t really talked about as much as it should be.
McRae says it can be surprising to find out how many adults have low literacy skills, which can have a significant impact on their daily life.
