Courtenay to install permanent flood control barricade

The city of Courtenay is installing a new barrier to help with flood control, starting Wednesday, November 23rd.

CAO David Allen notes the Tall Wall installation work will last until Thursday. He says the wall will have a lot of power to help stop water from flooding the region.

Allen says once the Tall Wall is installed, crews won’t have to close lanes on the Old Island Highway for Aqua Dam setup and removal.

The work will be done from 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM both days between Headquarters and Ryan Road along the Old Island Highway. Allen says the road will be reduced to single-lane northbound traffic only, while southbound traffic is detoured via side streets.
