SAR crews have busy weekend

It was a very busy weekend for Comox Valley Ground Search and Rescue crews, who were called out to three different operations on Sunday, all at around the same time.

Paul Berry with GSAR says it all started on Friday, when they were tasked out to Crofton, to aid in the search of a missing senior.

Unfortunately, Berry says this search ended the same way the search for missing Comox Valley hiker Sylvia Apps did earlier in the summer, as they didn’t find him.

Berry says crews were called out to Mt. Prevost simultaneously, while the search continued on Sunday.

Berry says in that case, the patient was taken to hospital by an air ambulance.

Finally, with a number of crew members busy with the previous operations of the day, Berry says they were tasked out a third time, this time to help an injured hiker in the Circlet Lake area in Strathcona Park.

Berry says it’s just another example of the amazing work ethic and dedication of the volunteers that comprise search and rescue operations.
