As the snow begins to fly in the mountains, the Vancouver Island Avalanche Bulletin is prepping for the winter season. Avalanche forecasts will begin to be issued in the coming weeks.
Spokesperson Jan Neuspiel says the forecast is compiled of data from forecasters and from weather stations on the mountains.
Neuspiel says back country snow sports is a growing market and it’s important that people are prepared before heading out, which should include avalanche training.
