Firefighters team up with Courtenay department for training

35 firefighters from 10 different departments were in Courtenay recently for a training session with the Courtenay Fire Department. Fire Chief Don Bardonnex says the training was organized with the Vancouver Island Fire Fighters Association.

He says it’s a great chance to learn from other departments, whether it’s something as simple as auto-extrication. Bardonnex notes the 2-day training weekend also included low-angle rescue skills and teachings by an instructor from the mainland.

Bardonnex says members of the Oyster River Fire Department also took part, helping out with instruction.
