Local first responders start trip to help crews in Mexico

A trio of first responders from the area are headed to Mexico to bring a donation of equipment to fire fighters in Puerto Vallarta.

Chris Hounsell, Ryan Thorburn, and Patrick Lewis left Wednesday night on their trip south. Hounsell says they got the idea after heading down on an trip last year with one of the local rotary clubs.

Hounsell says the community has been very supportive with the group’s fundraising efforts for the trip.

The journey to Mexico is expected to take 5 to 6 days. You can support the cause by visiting a Go Fund Me page the group has set up.
