Coroner identifies body found in Oyster River

The BC Coroners Service, with help from the Campbell River RCMP
Detachment and BC Police Missing Persons Centre, have now identified a man
whose remains were found in the Oyster River near Campbell River.

He is Jimmy Richard Pielle, aged 34, of Campbell River.

On Aug. 4, 2014, people snorkeling in the Oyster River came upon human
remains lodged in a pothole near the Island Highway. The snorkelers
notified authorities, and the RCMP dive team was able to recover the
remains.

The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate this death.

There is no indication of foul play.

Matt Brown is the Regional Coroner…and has details on the last confirmed sighting of Pielle…

Pielle’s family has just been notified of his death. The investigation continues.
