Tour de Rock crash sends valley rider to hospital with concussion

Quite the smash up in the Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock campaign, with one rider being forced to pull out of the cycling tour, and sending Comox Valley rider Matthew Pidgeon to the hospital in Tofino with a mild concussion, although he has confirmed he will continue the ride.

Tour spokesperson Arnold Lin says it was a chain reaction crash, that went down about 12 K’s into a 40 K ride from Ucluelt to Tofino…

Tour de Rock rider, 55 year old West Shore RCMP Staff Sergeant Steve Wright, suffered a separated shoulder and torn ligaments, and will now travel to the finish line in Victoria in the campaign support vehicle. Campbell River and North Island Tour de Rock riders managed to steer clear of the chain reaction crash and emerged relatively unscathed.
