BC Transportation Minister taking regional feedback on ferries

BC Transportation Minister Todd Stone, got quite the earful in meetings with various Powell River officials and community leaders this week. Cory Carr, Vice President of the Powell River Chamber of Commerce, says chamber members had a productive meeting with Stone, voicing their concerns on service cutbacks, ferry fares and other issues of concern on BC Ferries.

Carr says another key issue brought up with Stone include the chamber’s campaign on home porting, pushing the province to have the Powell River to Comox ferry based out of the Westview terminal…as opposed to the current home port of Little River in Comox.

Carr says the chamber will continue to press their concerns on BC Ferries, but adds he feels the BC Government is finally beginning to grasp the economic impacts behind service reductions and high ferry fares…

Those meetings were held in Powell River on Tuesday of this week.
