Sourcing home grown food on the agenda at NIC

It’s official, the J.W. McConnell Family Foundation has selected North Island College, as one of several projects nation-wide, to promote sustainable foods at the Courtenay campus. Comox resident Sandra Hamilton is spearheading the project for NIC, and say the challenge will be to build up the capacity of local producers to supply large institutions in the valley.

Hamilton says one tangible way to encourage campus consumption of local foods is for farms such as Sieffert’s, to supply the NIC campus cafeteria.
