Residents are being reminded to clean their wood stoves.
Powell River Deputy Fire Chief Rocky Swanson says the cooler temperatures earlier in the month have led to an increase of wood stove usage.
Swanson says residents should only be burning wood and not throwing garbage, plastics or other materials into their wood stoves.
He says that can increase the risk of a larger fire spreading in your home.
