BC Coroner investigating fatal Cortes Island incident

A Cortes Island man has died after he accidentally drove his vehicle into the ocean. RCMP confirm 87 year old Howard Jarvis was leaving a home in the Gorge Harbour area over the weekend on Saturday, when he accidentally drove his car right down onto the the beach and into the water.

The Cortes Island fire department and B.C. Ambulance, along with 19 Wing Comox crews also responded.

The car was pulled from the water and Jarvis was pronounced dead at the scene.

The B.C. Coroners Service continue their investigation.
