CDTA President happy about teacher’s deal

The Comox District Teachers Association is very excited about the agreement reached between the BCTF and Ministry of Education on restoring contract language.

Association President Nick Moore says the move has many positive impacts on schools in the Comox Valley. “This mean we can begin the planning process for what classes will look like next year…”, says Moore.

“We can expect more classes in elementary school because of reduced class sizes”, he says. However, as positive as the news is, Moore says he’s upset it took so long to get to this point.

“…we’re hoping we can move forward positively, working with government and local school districts to just do what’s right for students because that’s what we’ve really wanted all along”, adds Moore.

Moore says they also expect some reduced classroom sizes in secondary schools, particularly in English, Science, Home Economics and Shop classes.
