Flu bug hits the region

It’s official, the flu season is kicking in, with the first few cases already confirmed throughout the region. North Island Medical Health Officer Doctor Charmaine Enns explains.

Doctor Enns confirms vaccination clinics for the elderly and for those with weakened immune systems are on the go right now, and says there will be sufficient supply of the vaccine to meet demand for this flu season.

Doctor Enns says it hard to predict whether this will be a particularly severe flu season, but she is hoping the vaccine is a good match for the seasonal strains that pop up in the Comox Valley…

Several private businesses and companies in the Comox Valley have already made arrangements to bring in nursing staff to administer flu shots this week, before the season takes hold.
