RCMP Caution Residents About Bike Security

RCMP are reminding cyclists to make sure to lock up their bikes.

Constable Rob Gardner says bike theft is a crime of opportunity.

“Criminals are pretty lazy. So, if your bike is laying there and they don’t want to walk anymore, they’re just going to grab it and go.”

If your bike is stolen, Gardner says make sure to get the serial number and have a good description of it so police can search for it.

He also adds that work is being done to implement the 529 Garage phone app. The app would help track stolen bicycles and ensure they’re returned to their owners
