Some major concerns from Vancouver Island nurses on VIHA’s Ebola protection plan, with many nursing staff saying the health authority has not gone far enough in preparing front line health care workers in the region.
But Viha spokesperson Sarah Plank says the plan is a work in progress, and various measures have been taken in the event Ebola hits the region.
Plank says staff training on Ebola protection measures is now getting underway, and new supplies and safety equipment for staff are on the way.
Nursing officials say VIHA has emailed out a few links to web sites on Ebola safety measures, and they say that is simply not good enough.
Ebola has yet to be confirmed in British Columbia, although there have been several suspected cases.
